01/ IDENTITY — INDEPENDENT SYSTEMS ENGINEER · PLATFORM BUILDER · EST. 2010

I build the machinery behind the spectacle.

Proposal engines. CRMs. Field operations. AI layers. Render engines. The systems nobody sees on game day — because they never fail.

One operator. Four production platforms for a confidential US sports-technology client, under a signed monthly service contract. Plus a stack of engines I own, license and run myself.

02/ SELECTED WORK

Four platforms.
One continuous build.

A confidential engagement with a US sports-technology company that designs, builds and operates LED display systems for the biggest venues in sport. The client name is withheld. The systems are not.

  • EngagementMonthly service contract
  • ScopeBuild · operate · document
  • StackNext.js · TypeScript · Postgres
  • DeliveryLive in production, not staging

The commercial engine of the business. It replaced a spreadsheet-and-email workflow with a system that ingests a pricing workbook and returns a boardroom-ready proposal — priced, margined, formatted and legally complete.

Two modes: one that reproduces a client's own workbook with exact fidelity, and one that runs a full estimating engine over the product catalog. The same document pipeline drives proposals, letters of intent, scoping workbooks and service contracts.

Mirror mode

  • Exact 1:1 reproduction of a source workbook
  • Cell values, formulas and formats preserved
  • Visible and hidden sheets reproduced on cue
  • No invented math — the workbook is the source of truth

Intelligence mode

  • Full estimating engine over the product catalog
  • Automatic product matching by pitch, size and use
  • Multi-level cost trees: hardware, structure, electrical, labour
  • Margin math with target margin and markup controls
  • Multi-currency quoting and conversions

Document engine

  • Live PDF preview with deterministic page breaks
  • Word and Excel export from the same data model
  • Letters of intent with legal blocks and signature lines
  • Responsibility matrices generated per project
  • Executive dashboards and budget summaries

Intelligence & intake

  • RFP and bid-document analyzer — specs out of PDFs
  • LED display schedules extracted into structured rows
  • AI address and venue resolution
  • Catalog administration and price-book control
  • Margin analysis and risk flags on every quote

0Manual re-entry

A self-hosted CRM built for how the business actually sells, replacing an enterprise incumbent. Thousands of opportunities and accounts migrated with full history — activities, notes, owners and relationships intact.

Not a re-skin of someone else's data model. Custom objects, custom layouts, custom apps and a native AI assistant — shaped around the real sales motion, then extended into reporting, forecasting and stakeholder-facing pages.

Migration

  • Thousands of opportunities and accounts moved
  • Years of deal history, notes and activity preserved
  • Field-level mapping and reconciliation audits
  • Parity checks against the legacy source reports

Data model

  • Accounts, people, opportunities, venues, tickets
  • Custom objects for design requests and service work
  • Relation graphs across companies, people and deals
  • Soft-delete defaults with recovery windows

Reporting

  • Booked-revenue reports by fiscal year and vertical
  • Renewal and closed-won digests
  • Excel and CSV exports from live data
  • Dashboards, saved views, grouping and favourites

AI & surfaces

  • Native assistant with tool access and skills
  • Generated pages: account briefs, war rooms, status pages
  • Custom widgets, apps and navigation
  • Sync layer to the proposal and operations platforms

The system of record for a national services organisation. Events, staffing, tickets, design and print workflow, timesheets and customer-facing proofing — one surface from intake to post-game report.

Built for the rhythm of live events: hundreds of scheduled occurrences, staff assigned and checked in, hours tracked against contract, incidents logged and closed, and a portal the client can actually read.

Events & staffing

  • Event discovery and scheduling across the venue network
  • Staff assignment with coverage-rate tracking
  • Estimated versus contracted hours
  • Check-ins, game-ready and post-game reports

Workflow

  • Ticket intake with status and ownership
  • Design queue and print workflow states
  • Timesheets and labour-hour rollups
  • Workload balancing across the team

Client surface

  • Customer portal with operational status
  • Proof sharing and approval capture
  • Branded reports and exports
  • Live health and coverage views

Voice & automation

  • Voice agents for field techs and the support desk
  • Slack service bot for status and dispatch
  • Operational digests and incident alerts
  • CRM sync for service opportunities

4Voice agents

Documentation, training and agent infrastructure — wired into the places people already work. Every shipped feature gets an operator doc, a narrated walkthrough and an assistant that can answer for it.

The AI layer is provider-agnostic by design: models sit behind one interface with a fallback chain, so swapping a provider is configuration, not a rewrite. The same layer powers Slack, docs, email and voice.

Documentation

  • Operator docs site with an embedded assistant
  • Versioned content tied to each release
  • Change log and "what's new" surfaces
  • Searchable knowledge base over internal material

Academy

  • Narrated screen-recorded walkthroughs
  • Training flows and in-app onboarding checklists
  • Role-based learning paths
  • Verified recordings from the live surface

Agent infrastructure

  • Provider-agnostic model interface with fallback chain
  • Custom agent skills, tools and logic functions
  • Knowledge retrieval with source citations
  • Guardrails and scoped permissions

Automation

  • Slack bots, digests and request queues
  • Email generation from live data
  • Media pipelines for graphics and video
  • Transparency ledger for shipped work

03/ OWNED ENGINES

The things I own.

Separate from client work. Products, not projects — built to be called by API, metered by credit, and pointed at any brand that walks in.

ENGINE 01

LIVE

Metered signage & render engine

Brief in, board-correct proofs out. Deterministic versioning of locked templates — logo and text swap across a board-size matrix, N renders, zero drift. A signage planner that knows every board in the building.

ENGINE 02

LIVE

Cinematic landing engine

Brand kit in, live cinematic page out — scroll-driven, arena-scale, production-ready. Productized as setup plus license, not one-off agency work.

ENGINE 03

Agent & knowledge platform

Assistants, knowledge and publishing systems on one surface. Provider-agnostic routing, fallback chains, and the connective tissue between the platforms and the people who use them daily.

04/ STAGES

Where the software
ends up.

My systems orbit the buildings. The screens are the client's craft — the pricing, the proposals, the operations and the intelligence behind them are mine.

ON THE CALENDAR

Super Bowl LX

UNDERNEATH IT ALL

A proprietary venue control system drives every LED in the building — software and hardware together. My systems orbit it: pricing it, quoting it, documenting it, and keeping the commercial machinery as reliable as the hardware.

05/ DOCTRINE

How the work
gets done.

  1. 01

No lazy. No shortcuts. No band-aids.

Fix the root cause. If the real fix is three files, do three files.

  2. 02

    Build the proper fix.

There is no choice between quick and correct. Under pressure, slow down and nail it once.

  3. 03

    Done means verified live.

Not "it builds", not "tests pass". Open the artifact the way the end user would.

  4. 04

    Everything ships as a URL.

Clickable, demoable, on the spot. A local path is not a deliverable.

  5. 05

    Build universally.

For every case the feature should serve — not the one example that was given.

  6. 06

    Trace the whole path.

Environment to database to code to API to UI. Then patch the layer that's actually wrong.
